I had 4.2.1 on my laptop. Ran fine. I updated to 4.2.3 and now I can not open a majority of the Menu options, including Settings and Preferences. I tried to uninstall and reinstall my 4.2.1 with my backup disc, but it won't open. Every time I try to uninstall and reinstall 4.2.3 I still get these errors, and probably more that I don't know about.

Please help, using this weekend. Thank you.

Perhaps a user setting got corrupted.
Create a New User Admin account and test in that account. That will let me know if this is a user or system issue.
Windows 7 SP1 64bit?

Yes. I created a new user account on Windows and the program was able to open the menu options.

Yes, I am using Windows 7 SP1. Telestream folder goes into my Program Files (x86) folder.

Is there a way to fix my system so it works under my original account?

OK that would mean it's likely some user files.
I'm not sure which offhand.
Fill out the form and we can probably get you a list of files to delete. Link to this forum thread so you don't have to retype.

Thank you. I have started a ticket (1-248223) and will see what they offer to help fix my settings. It appears to be a Microsoft Update, but I am unsure of how to fix it: KB2753842

Interesting as it's only affecting one user. I'd think it would be an easy fix then when the find the offending file.
BTW Wirecast 4.2.4 was just released just in case you want to try that. If you do, try installing from the new account and see if that has an impact in the original account.

Seems I was not doing a complete uninstall. I did not delete the hidden files as they point out. Here is what they sent that helped work

Please quit Wirecast and uninstall from the Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel.

Next, delete the following files :

(Show Hidden Folders)
C:\Program Data\Telestream Folder\ Delete the XML file
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Vara Software\Wirecast Preferences

Restart your computer.

Redownload Wirecast below:
http://dynamic.telestream.net/...st.asp?prodid=wirecast


Launch Wirecast and activate your license.

Great. They found the hidden files.
Microsoft Uninstall doesn't necessarily delete the preferences so if they get corrupted or are otherwise not compatible with an update that can cause problems.
It's actually a good general rule to remember since this happens with various programs.

Error has returned for Preferences after downloading the new 4.4 version. I can open broadcast settings, but not preferences to add in my serial number.

Still working on trying to correct this, however, I changed internet providers and need to change email. Unfortunately, I must have signed up under another username with my work email. Is there a way to delete my old account so I can use that email with this account? the email is dcole @ howdenmediagroup . com

On the upper right of this webpage look for
profile:
see if you can edit it.
Otherwise you can start a new account.
